The Atari Icon Library was intitiated since there was no obvious place where Atari users could go to download colour icons for their nice desktops. Many of the icon sets have been floating around on the internet for a long time already, other have been compiled or converted especially for the icon library.
Accessing the icons
To use the icons you can find on this site you will need to transfer them to the icon resource file used by your replacement desktop. This file will most likely be found in the directory where your desktop is run from and will probably be called ICONS.RSC or something similiar. To transfer the icons between the downloaded RSC-file and the one used by the desktop you will need a resource editor that is capable of handling colour icons.
One of the best programs available for doing this is ResourceMaster which has been written by Armin Diedering. This excellent application was released as freeware in 2008, so just visit the authors website and grab it already.
Ok, show me the icons!
To start viewing the contents of the collection of icons, please have a look in the main menu to the left on this website. You can either use this menu to browse the contents of the different categories, or try using the search bar on top of the website.
Or simply view "All icons", to see what is new:
